Alive To Tell: The Story of A Young Entrepreneur

Today we bring you a young Nigerian entrepreneur as he speaks on his career path and shares the story behind his work.

Eze Emmanuel Uzoma is a native of Ogboza Automous Community, Amanato in Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State.

The second-class upper division graduate in Religious and Cultural Studies from Ignatius Ajuru University, Port Harcourt, Rivers state, is currently a cinematographer with impeccable credit to his job.

Emmanuel happens to be among those who launched themselves out during the pandemic year 2020. His story is a motivatiom because he found a way despite surrounding issues that affected the world and some which were personal.

During an interview section,  Emmanuel was asked why cinematography despite his discipline?

He said ‘’I love anything that has to do with a camera and loves being in it’’. He added that while he was in school people liked when he took their pictures with their phones. With such compliments and his love for art and nature fueled his passion into considering it as a career path.

Just like every young person thriving to survive, succeed and be successful, Emmanuel shared that he has his fair share of discouragement and disappointment from people who felt he wasn’t good enough. But thankfully, these events didn’t break rather they gave him a push to do better.

Emmanuel said  during the session that his family formed an integral path of his growth given the fact that he learnt cinematography via YouTube and continuous practice.

“They helped in publicity and modelled for some shots whenever I had a new concept to try out”  he added.

His growth process from 2020 to 2022 has been great. Uzoma works from home and also engages in outdoor jobs including birthday shots, prewedding shots, wedding shots among others  and as well as  videography services for any event

Emmanuel is popularly known on Social media especially on Facebook and Instagram as Emmazeal_Photography

When asked where he wants to be in the next five years in his career, he said:

‘’ I want to own my studio having attended a cinematography school to boost my knowledge and skills, also run a cinematography school alongside my studio’’.

Asked about his brand as  he looks forward to work and how far he has gone ?

He said ‘’ for now I have two studios in mind Beyond Studio and Ronnix Photography although I am already doing something with Beyond Studios, notwithstanding am open for partnership and also working with other brands not mentioned.” Congratulations chuckles as I celebrated with him.

Emmanuel also loves script writing and would also want to go into it. One of his dreams is a movie shot by him someday.

Its beautiful how zeal and passion drove a young man into starting something that requires adequate learning and professionalism by himself through the internet. With testimonies of this nature the internet is indeed impacting into the lives of young minds willing to learn and be independently successful.

In conclusion of my session with founder of Emmazeal Photography, two questions were asked, how do you deal with competition in your field and what would your advice be to young people willing to take a career path in cinematography?

He said, ‘’Well there is a lot of competition, hence some already have studios even around me, but what I do is channel my energy into being better and creative which includes lots of learning. My biggest competitor is myself.

“And my advice to young minds is that they should wear a positive mentality and be willing to learn and grow’.

“I have a philosophy – ‘Let the me in me, make me the me I am’. These words have been my guide.

In a country with ravaging unemployment, the pathway to success is continuous thriving to be better and skilled. It is encouraging to know that in this generation youths still have self-confidence. Like Emmanuel who didn’t see the fact that he is yet to go to a professional cinematography school as limit or hindrance but found a way to learn and start something, it is high time the I CANNOT DO THIS AND THAT mentality is driven away instead FIND A WAY, time waits for no man.
