Allow Tinubu To Inspect Election Materials – Court Tells INEC

The Presidential Election Court (PEPC), sitting in Abuja, has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to grant access to Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to inspect election materials used for the February 25 presidential election in Nigeria.

Tinubu and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), had on Tuesday  approached the PEPC,  to seek an order to inspect materials used by lNEC for the presidential poll.

His lawyer, Akintola Makinde (SAN), had said the order would enable him and his party members “obtain evidence in preparation for their defence” against Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar who are challenging his victory.

The application followed suit filed by the the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, challenging the declaration of Tinubu by INEC,as winner of the presidential election

Ruling on the motion on Wednesday, a 3-man panel of the court led by Justice I. Joseph, granted Tinubu’s request to inspect election materials.

“I am satisfied that there is substance in the application to the extent that the applicant is entitled to have access to electoral materials in the custody of INEC”, the court held said, adding that his “application is successful and has been granted.”

The judges also granted the same application filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
