Another prominent and high-class traditional ruler in Oyo State, the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdulganiyu Salawudeen, Ologunebi Ajinese 1, is dead
Sources familiar with the sad development, said Oba Salawudeen died on Sunday, July 24, at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan.
The source added that the monarch has been receiving treatment at the hospital for months but died on Sunday at 62 years.
His death is the latest recipe for pain and tears months after the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Ajagungbade Oyewumi died in December 2021, followed by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji in January 2022 and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi who died in April 2022.
A veterinary doctor who graduated from the University, the deceased traditional ruler ascended the throne in 2007.
Amid the monarch’s death, traditionalists are said to have begun burial rites around the ancient town.
