Terror group, Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) has claimed responsibility for the attack on Kuje Prison in Abuja.
DIPLOMATIC DIARY had reported that suspected terrorists on Tuesday night blew up the Custodial Centre with dynamites and released over 800 inmates, including 64 Boko Haram terrorists detained in the facility.
In a video clip released on Wednesday night by the Islamic State’s A’maq Agency, ISWAP showed some of its men shooting their way into the facility.
The 38 seconds video, captioned: “Fighters of Islamic State Attacked Kuje Prison in Abuja Yesterday and Succeeded in Freeing Dozens of prisoners”, the terrorists were seen marching in groups while vehicles and building were on fire.
An elderly man dressed in a native attire also joined the young men who were shouting on top of their voices.
