Kano Guber: We’re Yet To Receive CTC Copy Of Appeal Court Judgement – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed delay in receiving the certified true copy (CTC) of the Court of Appeal judgment that supposedly declared Dr Nasiru Gawuna as the winner of a gubernatorial election.

The appellate court had in a unanimous judgment delivered last Friday, upheld the decision of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which sacked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and declared the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, the winner of the election.

DIPLOMATIC DIARY earlier reported  a purported CTC of the judgement which affirmed the victory of Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the March 18 Kano governorship election  in Kano state.

The controversial document alleged to be part of the judgement indicated that the appeal court judges affirmed the victory of Governor Yusuf.

Confirming the document in a statement  on Tuesday, Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa,  said: “A certified copy of Appeal court Judgement on Kano state Governorship election has affirmed the victory of Abba Kabiru Yusuf as duly elected Governor of Kano state.”

Responding to the development on Wednesday, the APC legal adviser, Barrister Abubakar Kaka, who addressed newsmen atcNational Secretariat’s media office of the party, said the APC has not received the official CTC of the judgment.

Kaka stressed the necessity of obtaining an error-free CTC before the party can take any decision on the judgment.

He highlighted the crucial role of having an accurate and proper document to determine the appropriate course of action for the APC.

”We have not received an official copy of the certified true copy of the judgement. But we will write and get a copy. If the copy conveyed to us still contains this error, we will take steps eventually.

”What we will do, and we have done right now, is to write a request demanding the CTC. Until the CTC containing that error, which is being bantered around, before we will now know what to do next.

”But, I will suggest that whoever may have received the CTC containing that error, if he was an appropriate person and entitled to a copy, would have taken necessary steps to ask us to see.

”But I will say that the court should have taken the necessary steps to make corrections”, he said.
