Nollywood In Hollywood Unveils 2023 Line-Up On The World Stage Event

Organizers of the much-anticipated Nollywood-Hollywood has announced the line-up for the 2023 event, set to take place in the heart of Hollywood, California on September 22 and 23.

The lines-up event was unveiled in a glitzy event in Los Angeles.

Headlining this cinematic extravaganza are two timeless classics that pay homage to the literary genius of Chinua Achebe. “Things Fall Apart” and “No Longer At Ease”, both inspired by Achebe’s literary works, are set to transport audiences back in time to 1971 when these films first graced the silver screen.

Ose Oyamendan, a Nigerian-American filmmaker and the visionary behind Nollywood In Hollywood, shared his passion for showcasing Nigeria’s cultural richness on the global stage.

“For me, NOLLYWOOD IN HOLLYWOOD is Nigeria’s most notable cultural diplomacy event, and the cultural stage doesn’t get bigger than Hollywood.

“I am very particular that the world sees the other, better, and true side of Nigeria, and it starts with the world hearing our stories on the biggest stage.

“Oyamendan, in collaboration with the School of Cinema-Television at the University of Southern California and the American Cinematheque, established this event six years ago.

“Things Fall Apart”was an easy choice because it is important to show Hollywood and the world that Nigerian stories on film date back a long time. You know, there’s a thought out there that our history did not start until colonialists crossed the Atlantic and the Arabs came through the desert.

“Also, ‘The Trade’ by Jadesola Osiberu, Nigeria’s best film of the year, and the Berlin International Film Festival award winner, ‘All The Colors The World Are Between Black and White’ by Babatunde Opalowo, will grace the showcase. The event promises not only outstanding films but also networking opportunities, panel discussions, and a glamorous opening night party”, Oyamendan explained.

NOLLYWOOD IN HOLLYWOOD has become an annual highlight on Hollywood’s calendar.

The top three Nollywood films of the year, selected by a jury, are screened to a select audience comprising Hollywood executives, agents, professionals, the Nigerian Diaspora, film enthusiasts, and more.

Founded in 2018 by filmmaker Ose Oyamendan, the event is presented in partnership with the School of Cinematic Arts, University of Southern California, O2A Media Corp, and the American Cinematheque, operators of the prestigious Egyptian Theatre. Over the years, it has garnered extensive coverage from both local and international media outlets, including CNN, LA Times, BBC, CNBC, and many others.
