Peter Obi, Wike Hold Closed-door Meeting

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi on Wednesday, paid a visit to Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike at his private residence in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

On arrival, Obi was taken inside where he had a meeting with the governor behind closed doors.

Both men, however, did not speak on the purpose of the meeting, as Journalists were not granted access.

The duo were presidential aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before Obi defected to the LP.

Although, details of the meeting are not known as at press time,  Obi’s visit comes four days after  Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi also met with Governor Wike at about 9:00 pm behind closed doors.

Uncertainties have continued to surround Wike’s future in the PDP following his lose at the party’s presidential primary as well as in the choice of Vice-presidential candidate.

The PDP had elected former vice-president Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.

The Rivers State governor is widely speculated to be scheming to dump the PDP. He is believed to be currently disgruntled over the decision of Atiku to pick Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State over him as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.
