Rerun Primaries: Umahi Clinches Ebonyi South APC Senatorial Ticket

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone ahead of 2023 general elections.

Umahi won the rescheduled Primary election that took place on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Afikpo North Government Council.

The governor joined the senatorial race after losing his quest to fly the APC’s Presidential flag in the 2023 general elections.

The party had cancelled the primary to accommodate Umahi who lost the presidential primary election.

His younger brother, Austin Umahi, had won the senatorial ticket in the first primary election that took place in 28th May, 2022.

Speaking at the end of the Primary, Governor Umahi thanked the Delegates for entrusting him with their mandate and pledged to work hard to win the general election to enable him to repay their confidence through effective representation.
