Former Lagos State governor and Presidential hopeful of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has donated the sum of N75 million to the victims of Sunday’s attack on St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State.
Tinubu made the donation on Monday at the Palace of Olowo of Owo, Oba Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III.
The State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who was with Tinubu at the palace, announced the donation.
According to the Akeredolu, Tinubu donated N50 million for the treatment of victims of the attack and N25 million to the church.
He expressed his appreciation to the former Lagos State governor.
Speaking at the palace, Tinubu noted that South West had never witnessed an attack of such magnitude.
Tinubu, who described the attack as horrendous, called on the Federal and State governments to collaborate to strengthen the security in the country.
Tinubu said: “I urge the police and security agencies to do all that is within their powers to get to the bottom of this attack, apprehend the wicked perpetrators and bring them to justice. There is no place for such hatred and wanton taking of innocent lives in our nation.
“No one can discern the darkness in the mind of those that will kill people who are merely engaged in the harmless practice of their faith. This violent attack has shocked the conscience of the nation and shattered the peace of this ancient town.”
