President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, September 4, met with the Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, the Minister of State for Defense, Bello Matawalle, as well as the Service Chiefs, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Also in the meeting were the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa; the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja; the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla; and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar.

The meeting, the first after President Tinubu decorated the Chief of Defense Staff and the service chiefs was held behind closed doors.

While details of the meeting which lasted less than an hour, were however not available to journalists, DIPLOMATIC DIARY reports that the meeting came ahead of the president’s trip to New Delhi, India for the G20 Leadership Summit in New Delhi, India.

The meeting also came ahead of the planned 2-day warning strike of the Nigeria Labour Congres (NLC) and the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC.

The NLC has scheduled a 2-day warning strike for Tuesday, September 5th and Wednesday, September 6th to protest the hardship inflicted on Nigerians following removal of subsidy on petrol.

The PEPC has also scheduled judgment on the three petitions challenging the election of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25th Presidential Election.

Meanwhile, the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday said, it has uncovered alleged plot to stage violent protests in order to discredit the Federal Government and security agencies over sundry socio-economic matters.

Peter Afunanya, Spokesperson of the DSS in a statement, alleged that the plotters including certain politicians are desperately mobilising unsuspecting student leaders, ethnic based associations, youth and disgruntled groups for the planned action.
