Former Lagos State governor and presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 general elections, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is currently in a closed-door meeting with Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State.

The meeting, DIPLOMATIC DIARY learnt  was part of reconciliatory moves by Tinubu to pacify aggrieved  presidential aspirants of the party.

Bello was a presidential candidate in the just concluded Special, Convention and presidential primary of the APC. 

Tinubu had polled a total 1271 votes to defeat 12 other presidential aspirants  including Bello,   who scored  47 votes at the primary election.

As part of reconciliatory visit on Friday, Tinubu was accompanied to the meeting by Governors  Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos); Bello Matawalle (Zamfara); and Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano).

A former governor of Edo State and former national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, is also in the entourage.

It was, however, not clear if the issue of Tinubu’s running mate would be part of the agenda.
